about

tracks from SoundCloud, plus an exclusive one

1) "Its Only Right" is mostly a cover of "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac, but also has elements of "China Girl" by Iggy/Bowie and "Untouchable" by Rialto. The music is a combination of two grooves I've written in 2009, which happen to somewhat fit the chord progression of "Dreams", though it's in half time. The title is a play on a part of a verse, with the apostrophe deliberately omitted to change its meaning. The track was completed in 2016.

2) "DDIISSCCOO" is a miniature from 2009, made using sounds shared by the exquisite video game designer Nifflas, who is also an excellent electronic music producer (he often uses his own music in games he designs).

3) "Europe Is a Shithole" is another mashup of two ideas from 2009, combined and completed in 2014. I found it amusiing to show a musical connection between Animal Collective cca 2007 and Janet Jackson cca 1986.

4) "Dibrom Oksid" was made in January 2005, after a failed exam at uni. I was working on some music that sounded off, but after I got home feeling bummed out after the exam, the piece came together and also apparently reflected my mood. The title is a heteropalindrome, kind of.

4) "Some Fuck" is one of my first okay-sounding productions, which I made way back in 2004, it sat in an unfinished state until 2020, when I started to dig though a lot of old stuff.

6) "Dablas" is a ridiculous experiment from a similar period as "Dibrom Oksid". The title has no intended meaning.

7) "Mightier than Swords" is based on a riff I had since about 2002, developed other elements over the years, and completed it in 2016 for the purposes of a Black Planet Records compilation. The vocal/lyric/title line is taken from "Get Me Away from Here, I’m Dying" by Belle & Sebastian. A thing of note is that I had an extreme aesthetic experience while listening back to the track right after watching Alex Garland's "Ex Machina" for the first time.

8) "Na Kurcu Te Nosam" is a fairly sparse live jam from 2005. The title is a local joke (very rude).

9) "Ether Eater" is another track from 2009, the title references "Miss World" by Hole. The vocal line and lyrics are uncharacteristically original.

10) "Lay" was quickly written and completed in 2007. It's based on a little idea I had on guitar, while feeling extremely sexually frustrated.

11) "Chat Room Trauma" is also from 2009, the bassline rhythmically resembles "Join in the Chant" by Nitzer Ebb. The acoustic guitar part was intended for "Symmetry Dates" off of the Flowolf EP, it didn't quite work there, but it did here.

12) "Drought (Instrumental)" is a rare piece from 2014, I quite like the harmony and had some lyrics and vocals recorded, but it didn't sound right, so I left it instrumental (for the time being).

13) "1985" came to me one day in 2009 while I was contemplating the character of my generation, so the track is an attempt at recreating what I "heard" in my head. The groove somehow got to resemble "Da Funk" by Daft Punk.

14) "Draga Dušo" is an attempt at lo-fi house (in the vein of Ross From Friends), but using the sampled intro of a recording of "Živka Sirinićka" (local folk song).

15) "Fragment (Edit)" is a house groove, again based on a sample of the very beginning of a recording of "Fragment" by Matija Anđelković (a local classical composer), which happens to be one of the most exciting harmonic ideas I've ever heard.

16) "Ljuljaška" is based on slowed-down recordings of the screeching of a swing I used in a park (hence the title). The guitar parts are the first things I came up with (a slight subconscious reference to "The Drowners" by Suede can be heard).

17) "Kanta Strofa" is an acid experiment from 2009, which I've put off completing until 2023, which I managed to do specifically so it can serve as an exclusive track for this release (the title is another local joke, slightly racist).
